HOW DO I LOOK?
One thing that has been bugging me lately with NIGERIANS and relationships is that some are based solely on the PHYSICAL APPEARANCE.
So I was talking with one of my guy friends last week and just because we are close, we usually talk about relationships. Anyways he asked if I was in a relationship and I said NO of course cause I'm not( its kinda sad :-(....oh well ) and he was finding it very difficult to believe that a "fine gal" like me is still single. My nosy self decided to ask what he meant by that and his only response was that "I'm a pretty girl so there is no reason for me to be single". I BUSTED OUT LAUGHING!!!! since when did it become looks that get you a man/woman. I mean it plays a role in the level of attraction you feel towards the opposite sex but I don't think it should be what determines if you in a relationship or not. My friend didn't even ask if I wanted to be in a relationship but that's not the case. BTW, this my friend told me that he will definitely go for a fine babe anyday no matter what ( it shows where his focus his)...Anyways, you probably wondering.... so what does this have to do with NIGERIANS? I know with some naija people that I have spoken with, if the man/woman don't match up to some level of fineness, then the person gets looked at twice or gets ignored completely ( been guilty a few times). A lot of Nigerians care too much about what other people think about their significant other that it has now put "physical features" as part of the top requirements in a relationship. It has gotten to the point IMO where a lot of people (male & female) let go of a perfectly capable man/woman just because he/she is not up to the family/friends standards...like who cares man!!!!!
My mom and I usually go for a walk together in the evening and during our last one, we had the "relationship talk", while discussing, my mom specifically told me the kind of guy she wants me to marry (can you imagine...lol); apart from being God-fearing, educated etc, she mentioned that another important factor was his looks....I was like WTH, are you kidding me. Since when did physical appearance matter..... and she is def not the only one pestering my life about marrying a good looking and TALL guy, it is as if she got my whole family(extended included) in a cult to be telling me the same BS. To me sha, I can care less if you got the GQ look or if you the "average joe", what matters is that you are capable to care for me and LOVE me. Good looks will just be a bonus. By God's grace we will make beaurriful babies IJN...lol but what would you choose; LOOKS or CHARACTER.

This is must be a bloody lie!
OMG! So apparently, Will and Jada are calling it splits after 13 years of marriage, which by Hollywood standards, is a lifetime. But they just seemed like the perfect couple, didn't they? No word on the reasons yet.
They have two children together, Jaden and Willow. Will has a son from a previous marriage, Trey.
So who's next, Michelle and Obama?

Boko Haram kills 3 Policemen
According to 234next, members of the Islamic extremist group broke into the house of one of the officers in the Northeast town of Maiduguri and killed three policemen and a civilian.
Boko Haram, whose name roughly translated in Hausa means "Western Education is a Sin", has been terrorizing the state of Bornu for months.
"The Boko Haram members burst into the residence of one of the policemen when three of them and the civilian were watching television and opened fire, killing all of them instantly," Simeon Midenda, Borno state police commissioner, told reporters.
"The sect members have been watching our success at foiling all their efforts so they have changed tactics and have resorted to attacking our personnel at their residences."
This is truly a sad thing, may the dead officers rest in peace. Hopefully, this will encourage the government to do something about these animals, killing so heartlessly.
May God help Nigeria

Retta- Kolo For You(Official Video)
My people, how body? Shey una dey kampe? I know this is late for some but Happy Sunday! Had a wonderful day myself; went to a new church. Funny Story about that below.
The artiste's name is Retta and I honestly can't describe her sound, it's Soul/Pop-ish with an helpful dose of goosebumps, I swear. Stumbled on her by chance and I was blown.
Check out the video for her first single, directed by Clarence Peters and starring Peter Okoye(PSquare), looking quite yummy ;).
P.S1: If you are scared of the picture above, you are NOT alone.
P.S2: Funny Story: I went to a new church today with a friend and it was awesome!. Then the pastor called for newcomers to come forward and I usually don't stand up cos I hate attention like that. But FFO like me, immediately my friend told me they were giving food to the newcomers, I jumped up like something just pinched my nyash. Only for me to go to the room and see Nature Valley and water. Don't get me wrong, I was quite appreciative, I even took some with me, but I was expecting some Jollof Rice with fried beef and plantain. I even let my imagination include moin-moin, haha. Now, all I can pray is that i will not get sold for food. Do you ever get like that because of food? Plx let me know oh!

REVIEW: Sleep Walker
The pain frim the past can reallly affect your future!!!! That's exactly what this movie is all about. Genevieve Nnaji (Angel) was the main character. At a young age of 12, her parents were shot dead in her presence and the murderer also raped her mercilessly. After that ordeal, she was placed in a psychiatric hospital where she started sleep walking (hence the title of the movie). Angel is now a grown lady and she is allowing her past to determine her future. After a while, she met the guy that killed her parents and raped her.....the story just started because REVENGE is sweet!!!!!
Enjoy the preview :-)
I must admit the movie is very slow but it was worth it.

REVIEW
So, this will be hard because I really do not want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it but I will try.
The story starts out focusing on Bukola and her husband, Biodun. They have been childless after so many years of marriage and Bukky is letting it get to her, much to the annoyance of her no-nonsense husband. An unfortunate accident occurs and Biodun is wrongfully blamed for it and sentenced to 85 years in prison. With no prospect of seeing her husband again, Bukola very reluctantly begins an affair with her Ghanaian houseboy, Kofi and they fall in love with each other. She bears a child for him, naming the son, Kofi Junior.
Their happy life becomes disrupted when Biodun comes back home unexpectedly from prison. He was released only three years into his jail sentence. In her confused state, she claims Junior is actually Biodun's son.
"The world of the employee crumbles and this starts the greatest cover-up of all battles."
It was produced and directed by TADE Ogidan, the award winning director of Dangerous Twins(still haven't seen that movie smh). It has an all-star cast of Opeyemi Ayeola, Sola Shobowale, Yemi Solade, Lanre Balogun, Buki Ajayi, and Remi Oshodi.
Conclusion
This movie will make you cry, laugh and have you on the edge of your seat(very corny, I know). But honestly, it has a very interesting storyline and it makes one think of what could have been done differently in certain situations, what would happen if Bukola had stood her ground and not followed her friend's advice, e.t.c? This movie was TOUGH! All the actors did fantastic jobs.
On a downside though, while it was good and all, I gotta say there were too many time-wasting scenes, so much so that there are two parts, 3 CD's in one part. The last CD was even a narration of all that had been happening. It was very unnecessary and I hope Mr. Ogidan will learn.

MOVIE REVIEW: Keeping Faith
Such an hawezome movie yo, lol. What an intro.
Ok, so this movie is classic! It stars Genevieve Nnaji, RMD, Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi, Bimbo Akintola, Joke Silva and more. It was directed by Steve Gukas and produced by Ego Boyo.
Here is a clip of the opening scene
The story is about Nadine (GN) who is in a relationship with Simi. She wants more commitment from him but refuses to take her friends' advice and use 'Jazz' on him. As Funlola's character says, "The charm makes love grow." Lol. Things end badly when she surprises Simi with a visit and finds out that he just recently got married. She becomes depressed and all, immersing herself in a new contract her company had won from Mr. Sampra Princely(RMD). Sampra expresses that he has feelings for Nadine.
After a bit of toasting, she decides to open her heart, and start dating Sampra, with the hurt of her previous relationship still in her mind. She reluctantly succumbs to using 'Jazz' on Sampra. The true test of the relationship comes when Sampra finds the charms in his bedroom...
Acting
Loved every bit of it, Genevieve played the young naive girl perfectly. I just loved how you can relate to her character and it's flaws.
RMD was as smooth as Blue Band butter when he needed to be and when he showed his raw, vulnerable side, you felt his pain.
The romance was a nice story and all, but Nadine's friends really made my day, they were too funny. They were played by Funlola and Bimbo Akintola and I found myself amazed at the talent. The way Funlola kept coming up with statements to justify using 'Jazz' had me stitches ('makes the honeymoon last longer', 'insurance policy')
Storyline
The story was really good. Considering when it came out, it was original and delightful. Though the love scenes seemed too corny at times, it was still bearable and even enjoyable at times.
Conclusion
It is a great movie all round. The dialogue was very believable, the people, even more. Everything came together well and what's more, you get to see a young RMD(fine boy looking sexy) lol.
So, you should let me know what you think oh. Dyu agree with my review or not. If there are movies that you feel should be reviewed, drop a comment.

What Are We? Are We Forever Slaves?
I just finished reading this book called "The Slave Girl" by Buchi Emecheta (good book btw). The novel is about this girl Ojebeta who was the only surviving girl of her parents. She has two older brothers. After their parents death, Ojebeta was sold by her 2nd brother, Jacob, to one of their aunts, Ma Paladaga, in Otu Onitsha(guess that was the big place back then) for about 8 pounds in the hope that Ma Paladaga's son will marry her.
Fast forward several years, she marries a guy called Jacob and they have issues with their children. Traditionalists told them that it was because she belonged to someone else...anyways long story short, Jacob had to pay Ma Paladaga's son back the money Ojebeta's brother took from his mom. The novel ended by Ojebeta saying that she is happy to belong to a new master.
So, WeTalkNaija readers, I got to thinking....as women, are we ever free or do we just change masters????? Don't get me wrong because this is by no means a way to disrespect my fellow women but are we ever free? I think what the novel brought out is an idea that most ladies don't like to think about and that is….. Starting from when we were born, we belonged to our parents and whether we like it or not, except we choose otherwise, we will belong to a man (duh…he paid your bride price). Our parents are our first masters and as we continue to grow older, we get married ……after marriage, don't we then belong to our husbands???? I think whether we like it or not, it’s somewhat true that we are forever "slaves". Not in a derogatory manner but the idea that we are to serve and become submissive makes us one.
In present time, we have many women that have the "I can do bad all by myself" attitude because they refuse to become submissive to any guy (I'm not trying to be religious or anything but that is not how it should be and I have proof) but to my understanding, don't that mean she still belong to her parents???? Help me out here. And just to keep in mind, MEN are to also submit and assist their WOMEN when the time comes (we have def argued about this). So my question to all of you is that..... When are we (women) free or do we remain forever slaves?????
Fast forward several years, she marries a guy called Jacob and they have issues with their children. I love my baby!!!!!
Weddings are awesome and lately, I have been attending a lot of them and also watching a lot of them on YouTube....lol (Love is a Beautuful Thing). With all of this romance and love going on around me, I started to wonder...when did these people get to that level. Relationships are hard and it amazes me how a lot of people get to the point of marriage. I understand that it takes time and effort to make it to that level but how much time and effort is enough. One day I hope to find my own Mr. Right where every piece of the puzzle fits and it just couldn't be more perfect But before then, trust me I have been dreaming of "my dream wedding" and of course "Mr. Right". I am patiently waiting for GOD to work out his perfect plan. :-)
Enjoy some videos...they are so cute :-)

He has also actively voiced out his opinions concerning politics, a brave act which has landed him in jail numerous times.
I am wishing him a happy birthday and lots of God's blessings. I have actually seen him before, twice, both times in the airport, he's FLY like that lol.

President Goodluck On Tenure Elongation
According to 234Next, the President wants to send a bill to the National Assembly that will ensure a single term, with no option of a second, for the President and the governors of all 36 states of Nigeria. But he proposes that the term will be a bit longer than the current 4 years.
According to Reuben Abati, Presidential Spokesman, they believe that the "constitutionally guaranteed two terms for presidents and governors is not helping the focus of governance and institutionalisation of democracy at this stage of our development. A longer term for lawmakers would also help to stabilise the polity."
Mr. Abati also reassured the public that President Goodluck will, in no way, be a beneficiary, should the House of Assembly approve the bill. If it is approved, it will not go into effect until 2015.
I guess I can understand where they are coming from. With no chance of a re-election, politicians might actually focus on governing, and not planning their next campaign. It is a good plan.
BUT, with all the pressing issues Nigeria is faced with, one would think he would focus more on those. And somebody raised a point that this would only lead politicians to steal money at a faster rate than usual.
Let us know what you think, is this plan in Nigeria's best interest or not?

Uche Jumbo's New Movie: Damage
Kalu Ikeagwu(from Tinsel and Distance Between) and Uche Jumbo are starring in this new movie, Damage.
From the website, "Damage deals with the issue of domestic violence and the psychological effect it could have especially on the children. A man and his wife love each other immensely yet their day to day life can only be described as a ‘cat and mouse’ situation as they fight violently almost on a daily basis."
The trailer below:
The movie is being premiered in Lagos on 31st July. I hope it's a good movie sha. I love me some Kalu, loved him way back from of the days of Doctors' Quarters.

Love and Rebuild Life!

Do the good times now make up for the bad? "I try not to think about the bad times. Bad things happen -- killings, sickness, heartache. I'll never find the answer why, but there must be a reason, because I know God is good. Why lie in your bed getting depressed? Instead, use your energy to move forward. Love and rebuild life!"It's like she's speaking to me! Bouta take her advice, Adios mis amigos! :):)

LET'S GET PERSONAL: WHY WORRY!!!!
Dear WeTalkNaija Readers,
This has been something that has been controlling my life since I can remember and it has gotten to a point where I want that control back and it is the fact that I WORRY A LOT!!!!! I don't know why but I just do. Don't get me wrong, but I know its OK to get worried over some things in life for example as a student, you worry about your GPA, involvement on campus, and your future career plans but I feel as though my own is to the extreme. I worry so much that my chest hurts and feels like its about to burst and this has caused me to live in constant fear every where I go. I fear that I might end up a failure. I worry about any and everything you can think of (school, money, health, physical appreance, emotional attachments, pleasing everyone around me, being in the right relationship, spiritual life, making my parents proud.....and so much more. So I asked myself these questions WHY WORRY? What exactly do I gain from living in constant fear daily? Why can't I let tomorrow take care of itself? What problems of mine has worrying solved? What positive has holding on to baggages brought me????? and to be honest, I wish I had answers that way I can feel as though my life is heading somewhere instead of finding myself in the same position time after time. I worry so much that it has actually taken a huge toll on my health and yet, I'm not motivated enough to LET THINGS GO. Life is not easy but I think I have made mine harder than it should be. So therefore, I am asking YOU, the reader, how do you let things go. Please be honest because this is a serious issue that I am battling with.
