I love my baby!!!!!

Weddings are awesome and lately, I have been attending a lot of them and also watching a lot of them on YouTube....lol (Love is a Beautuful Thing). With all of this romance and love going on around me, I started to wonder...when did these people get to that level. Relationships are hard and it amazes me how a lot of people get to the point of marriage. I understand that it takes time and effort to make it to that level but how much time and effort is enough. One day I hope to find my own Mr. Right where every piece of the puzzle fits and it just couldn't be more perfect But before then, trust me I have been dreaming of "my dream wedding" and of course "Mr. Right". I am patiently waiting for GOD to work out his perfect plan. :-)

Enjoy some videos...they are so cute :-)

Wole Soyinka Clocks 77

Wole Soyinka
Born Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka, he is a Nigerian writer, poet and playwright. He also became the first African Nobel Laureate, when he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986.
He has also actively voiced out his opinions concerning politics, a brave act which has landed him in jail numerous times.

I am wishing him a happy birthday and lots of God's blessings. I have actually seen him before, twice, both times in the airport, he's FLY like that lol.

President Goodluck On Tenure Elongation

According to 234Next, the President wants to send a bill to the National Assembly that will ensure a single term, with no option of a second, for the President and the governors of all 36 states of Nigeria. But he proposes that the term will be a bit longer than the current 4 years.

According to Reuben Abati, Presidential Spokesman, they believe that the "constitutionally guaranteed two terms for presidents and governors is not helping the focus of governance and institutionalisation of democracy at this stage of our development. A longer term for lawmakers would also help to stabilise the polity."
Mr. Abati also reassured the public that President Goodluck will, in no way, be a beneficiary, should the House of Assembly approve the bill. If it is approved, it will not go into effect until 2015.

I guess I can understand where they are coming from. With no chance of a re-election, politicians might actually focus on governing, and not planning their next campaign. It is a good plan.

BUT, with all the pressing issues Nigeria is faced with, one would think he would focus more on those. And somebody raised a point that this would only lead politicians to steal money at a faster rate than usual.

Let us know what you think, is this plan in Nigeria's best interest or not?

Uche Jumbo's New Movie: Damage

Kalu Ikeagwu(from Tinsel and Distance Between) and Uche Jumbo are starring in this new movie, Damage.
From the website, "Damage deals with the issue of domestic violence and the psychological effect it could have especially on the children. A man and his wife love each other immensely yet their day to day life can only be described as a ‘cat and mouse’ situation as they fight violently almost on a daily basis."
The trailer below:
The movie is being premiered in Lagos on 31st July. I hope it's a good movie sha. I love me some Kalu, loved him way back from of the days of Doctors' Quarters.

Love and Rebuild Life!

If you are not familiar with the woman above, her name is Sofia Vergara, star of the hit series, Modern Family. In this week's issue of Parade Magazine, the 39-year old Colombian actress discusses her personal tragedies and how she's been able to pull through. One paragraph struck me so I decided to share. Enjoy :)

Do the good times now make up for the bad? "I try not to think about the bad times. Bad things happen -- killings, sickness, heartache. I'll never find the answer why, but there must be a reason, because I know God is good. Why lie in your bed getting depressed? Instead, use your energy to move forward. Love and rebuild life!"
It's like she's speaking to me! Bouta take her advice, Adios mis amigos! :):)

LET'S GET PERSONAL: WHY WORRY!!!!

Dear WeTalkNaija Readers,

This has been something that has been controlling my life since I can remember and it has gotten to a point where I want that control back and it is the fact that I WORRY A LOT!!!!! I don't know why but I just do. Don't get me wrong, but I know its OK to get worried over some things in life for example as a student, you worry about your GPA, involvement on campus, and your future career plans but I feel as though my own is to the extreme. I worry so much that my chest hurts and feels like its about to burst and this has caused me to live in constant fear every where I go. I fear that I might end up a failure. I worry about any and everything you can think of (school, money, health, physical appreance, emotional attachments, pleasing everyone around me, being in the right relationship, spiritual life, making my parents proud.....and so much more. So I asked myself these questions WHY WORRY? What exactly do I gain from living in constant fear daily? Why can't I let tomorrow take care of itself? What problems of mine has worrying solved? What positive has holding on to baggages brought me????? and to be honest, I wish I had answers that way I can feel as though my life is heading somewhere instead of finding myself in the same position time after time. I worry so much that it has actually taken a huge toll on my health and yet, I'm not motivated enough to LET THINGS GO. Life is not easy but I think I have made mine harder than it should be. So therefore, I am asking YOU, the reader, how do you let things go. Please be honest because this is a serious issue that I am battling with.

Movie Review: Distance Between

Story by: Remi Ibinola
Directed by: Izu Ojukwu
Starring: Rita Dominic, Mercy Johnson, Yemi Blaq, Kalu Ikeagwu, Ashley Nwosu (RIP), Kasandra Odita.

Review:
In the first scene, we see Preye(RD) playing with Mosun's(MJ) child and notice tears in her eyes. And then the movie goes into a flashback where Mosun and Preye are at the club. While in the club, Preye is the wild one dancing with any and every guy meanwhile, on the other hand, Mosun is sitting at the bar, quietly shocked at Preye's dancing. That night, Preye engages in a threesome with two guys; Mosun came in when they were asleep, declaring to the audience, "You see, Preye is wild. I try to make sure she does not go far but sometimes..." We start to understand the dynamic between these best friends; we gather that while Preye is quite promiscuous (like Nelly Furtado), Mosun avoids sexual and physical contact with men.
The movie goes on to shed light on the sexual abuse both girls suffered at the hands of their older male relatives, and how the injustice done affected them differently and seemed to dictate how they treat the men in their lives.

Performance
The movie was extremely enjoyable, well directed and the fact that it dealt with a major issue in today's society made it a must-watch. The acting in the movie was great; like, what would you expect from such a stellar cast. A lot of times, the actors allowed you interpret their emotions from their actions and not from excessive shouting.
The one scene that stuck to me was when Preye found out that Akin, her husband, was the father to Mosun's child. The desperation and hurt in her face and movements, how she clung to the child like a lifeline had me on the verge of tears. Rita Dominic did an awesome job. She has been MIA for a while but this now I see why.....She had put all her effort in this movie.
Yemi Blaq with his SEXY voice did it again. He was very believable in this movie and I loved every part of his character (Akin)

Funny Scenes
So, Mosun is sleeping with her best friend's husband and after each of their 'sessions', she would act all guilty calling herself a devil and all sorts. Then Akin would ask, "Do you want to stop?" She'll quickly rush to say 'NO' every single time. I was laughing my butt off.

In one other scene, they are all trying to convince Preye to not kill herself and the baby, and Ike starts confessing his love for her with Preye's husband standing right there and looking at him.

Problems
First of all, and this has been bugging me, MJ can like to stop inserting American accent. Her natural accent is good the way it is. She is such a great actress but when she forces the accent, I just get turned off.
Second, the scene where April was in the car with a so-called assassin was very annoying and on top of that nothing even happened.. i felt like that was just uncalled for.

I would recommend this movie wholeheartedly. It does not just skim the surface of the underlying problem, child abuse. The characters and dialogue are relatable. The acting and directing was superb, I was temporarily in love. But what else should I expect from Izu Ojukwu, he's a force to be reckoned with.
You should watch it and let me know what you think.

GUILTY AS SIN!!!!!!!

Continuation of DIRTY SECRET!!

Let me start by saying that this was a total waste of time so I did not bother watching the whole movie (stopped in the middle of Part 1). I can not believe I even tried to watch this movie because the beginning should have been a sign but I wanted so badly to give it a try. I was nice enough to watch the first part of the movie (Dirty Secret) but this is a definite NO NO. I cant say more than I have on this movie but you are definitely free to watch it if you please. So far from what I have wasted my precious time to watch, its basically mini porn. When did Nollywood start with all this rubbish. Out of the 40 mins I wasted, I can say that only 10mins was worth it (with the intro) and this is only Part 1. CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!!! but I give Tonto Dikeh, Muna Obiekwe and Ajibola Dabo for acting such degrading roles. I am highly disappointed!!!!!!

I was having one of those days when I just missed Nigeria and my family so much. I was online watching movie trailers and just looking up what's happening in Naij. Which just made me sadder cos I can't watch a lot of the movies since they haven't been premiered here. But I realized, what's the point of being sad, I should always make the best out of what I have, Nothing Do Me!!!!!! lol, think I'm on crack.

Who Would You Choose?

See these beautiful men, African talent, lol
To the left is Majid Michel, the Ghanaian actor who has starred in movies such as Hearts of Men and Silent Scandals. In the middle is Mike Ezuruounye, Nigeria's resident "Wonder Boy". He's been in The Celebrity and Critical Decision; he's also recently married. And to the right is Jim Iyke, who's been in Pleasure Boosters and Love My Way. They were all at the AMAA Nominations night in Nairobi, Kenya.

So who would you choose in a perfect utopia. For me, I'll go for Jim Iyke, he looks and acts like a Gbaus(boss in uber ghetto english lol). Share your comments below.

Lagos Under Water!!!

Before I start, I just want to apologize because its been a while since my last post but while I was away, OroboTohBad has been keeping the blog lively.

So as you all know or might have heard, Lagos is not the best place to be right now due to the recent treat by mother nature. Anyways the flood is so bad and recently, many people have been saying that this is just the beginning :-(. My heart goes out to everybody affected by the flood. I don't know a lot about Lagos I know it is very crowded so I cant even imagine how many lives were affected. Some say it is the government's fault (btw PDP wants Fashola to resign because of this...they claim he is not using his position the right way....only God knows what that meant) and some are saying that the damages were caused by Lagosians not taking proper care of their surroundings. Either way, the flood is leaving a huge impact. It has taken a lot of lives and caused a huge load of damage.

Please pray for those affected. I can't imagine myself in this kind of situation.

Japan Wins Against the US in the Women's World Cup

For some weird reason, I never watch Women's soccer which is bad because I am not supporting my gender but I have always thought they never played it quite as good as the men. Then I watched the last 20 minutes of the Japan-USA soccer and I am eating all my words. I experienced near heart attacks, I screamed, shouted, and hit almost everything near me; it was that interesting.

Brief Summary by a Novice: Both teams tied 1-1 by the end of the 90 minute. So they went into 30 minutes overtime, and USA scored again. But Japan came back with an equalizer. Next up, Penalty shootout! So, all this while, the USA women have been playing really strongly, with confidence and strength, then during the shootout, their game came down. Some say that Japan had the opportunity to see the USA in a penalty shootout against Brazil, so they could study their moves; an advantage USA did not have. Allz I know is that the Japanese keeper was on serious Fayah!

Japan won the penalty kick 3-1, so they won the game.

This is such beautiful news for the people of Japan, after such a tumultuous year, that they could rise above that and win the World Cup  is remarkable. Tbh, I was kinda supporting them  because they were like the underdogs. They were persistent, and they kept coming back every time USA was ahead.

Both teams played extremely well. The fact that they both made it to the Finals is amazing and we hope to see more games like this.

Congrats to both teams!!!!!!

Record Breaking Night for Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows 2

So, unless you've been living under a rock, you would know that the final Harry Potter movie came last Friday. It made history by earning upwards of $90 million on it's opening day, not a bad start at all.

It broke the record previously held by The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which earned $72.7 million on it's opening day.

I haven't been able to see it, work does that to you but my friends that have, said it's really good. Of course I would not allow them to say more because I will injure somebody if they spoil that movie for me, haha.

In case, you haven't seen the trailer,

Blast from the past: Oldies but Goodies

So, I was listening to Naija Hip-Pop one day and I was just going on till I hit these videos and I thought it would be nice to do a post on some of the songs that shaped and paved the way for what we have today.

First of is Oya, by the Trybesmen. This was when Eldee, Dr. Sid and Sasha were all looking like gbongafishes.
"Shake Baka, Scatter Nyash" is now stuck in my head.

Next up, I am sure you all know this. Without further ado, I present Mr. Lecturer by Eedris Abdulkareem.

Before, they were world touring and winning many awards, Peter and Paul Okoye had to deal with a cheating girlfriend in Omoge Mi.
Spent Holidays listening to this on Music Africa

"My heart go jigijigi bambam!" You guessed it, this one is from Tony Tetuila.

Now, you know this list won't be worth it until y'all "Raise the Roof" by Jazzman Olofin.

Way back, they used words like "Love Me Jeje, Love Me Tender" by Seyi Sodimu

That guy looked so much like a creepy pimp but I still love this song

Tear Jerker Alert! Modenine, probably one of the most critical rappers of our time came out with this song a few years ago.

This song came out when I was in JSS2. On the last day of classes, my school played this song continuously all day long on the loudspeaker. But i did not mind, i loved "Olufunmi" by Styl-Plus.

Saved the best for last, the song that made 2face an instant star after his Plantashun Boyz success.

There are so many more but I don't wanna make this post too long, maybe I will do another with different songs. Hope you enjoy them.
Let us know what you think of the post by dropping a comment :).

Print Me Addicted

So, I don't know if you guys know about Genevieve Nnaji being invited to the Net-A-Porter party in honor of the dynamic duo behind Dolce & Gabbana, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce. She wore a leopard print dress by the designer from their A/W11 collection. Naomi Campbell, Queen Latifah were among the many celebrities who were also in attendance.
Genevieve with Dolce, she looks so cute

It's like the IV said, "Wear leopard print or you won't get in" lol
I just love what she wore because leopard print is my current obsession. And I know if they had invited me, I would have fit right in because it seems wearing some sort of print was a requirement.
Below are some leopard print stuff that I'm loving so much

Express pump

Coach Bag
F21 Sunglasses

H&M Maxi Dress

Guess Necklace
Guiseppe Zanotti Wedge Booties

So that is it for me. After seeing all these, all I can say, in the words of Yung6ix, is, "Lord abeg give me PLenty Money." See prices!
What is your current fashion obsession this summer, please drop your comments and share.
